🧠 Notes & Reflections

The semantic versioning should give you a clue about how we are progessing with these modules, in version 0.1.4 there was sketeched out pseudocode in the shape of how we wanted the SDK integration to work, and we still relied on the cli fallback. Then we went away for about a year, and came and looked at the module again and had that, what in the world is going on here moment. So this explains the jump to 0.2.0, still a very early version of the module, but a minor leap away from the partially not-working code in the previous version. What will this module look like when it reaches 1.0.0?

We have a notion this module will never reach that milestone, and that it may just be a precursor for a secrets-opsdevnz module, that will provide an interface for multiple kinds of secret manager stores. Then there is this whole thing about should we put namespace first and package function second, like opsdevnz-secrets and if we should setup a new GitHub org for OpsDev.nz and rehome the modules, and build our GitHub presence out in Terraform. Or write a new Python API wrapper, heh it all amounts to bikeshedding and we just wanted to get some coding done.

⏳ Mañana

  • A clean-environment install sanity check, outside the dev sandbox
  • Tidy-ups on octodns-metaname and oc-opsdevnz, which can now use the published release
