DevOpsDays Wellington 2027¶

Status: Up in the air — we like the DevOpsDays format, but haven't found a core group of organisers to commit to a 2027 revival. OpsDev.nz is itself in maintenance mode (lead organiser John Billings has taken on contract work). What we do plan is closer collaboration with KiwiPyCon 2027. Want to discuss? Direction¶

We know DevOpsDays has run in Aotearoa before (last in Auckland 2019, Wellington 2018), we like the format, and we're not ruling out a revival — but without a committed core group of organisers, 2027 is a full event we can't promise. With limited capacity, our plan is to work with KiwiPyCon 2027 instead. Depending on their dates and programme, one of:

• Stage a DevOpsDays event immediately before or after KiwiPyCon, sharing logistics and cross-promoting.
• Advocate for an optional Platform Engineering track within the KiwiPyCon programme.
• Pitch a session in the KiwiPyCon CFP.

Note: KiwiPyCon 2027 is expected to move to Christchurch, so the Shed 6 Wellington alignment the earlier proposal was built around no longer applies. We are not claiming the $8,223.08 Wellington Venues credit discovered during this work for now — it remains available if event plans return to Wellington.
