🧠 Notes & Reflections

Made a decision to put up a volunteer role for the director of SMUNZ next month:

This will be an unpaid role of course, and listing volunteer roles is free.

New GitHub Org coming

The Fiscal host StartMeUp.nz is happy with GitLab, and does not require GitHub.

OpsDev.nz has made an informal decision to host Python modules in GitHub for two major reasons:

  • Diversity in tooling, a GitLab based monorepo w/ modules hosted in GitHub mounted as git submodules.
  • Maintain knowledge and experience with the GitHub platform in order to support other projects and collectives.

The proposal will be to create a "opsdevnz" organisation rather than the current startmeup-nz repo. OpsDev.nz owns the Python modules as a collective.

OpsDev.nz will begin maintaining its own decision record.

Also down the road, a simple back up plan. Mirror the GitLab monorepo in GitHub. Mirror the GitHub Python module repos in GitLab.

RAMP project

When we get back to work in July we will be doing some preparation, analysis, discovery etc... for automating reconciliation workflows for SMUNZ the fiscal host. We have been brought into existence by SMUNZ and now we have to repay that favour by building some infrastructure for them.

Taking a Break

Won't be working on things much the rest of the month. I'll be back in July to pick things up again, but also searching for contract work.
